Treehugger!

I wrote about Leah Penniman of Soul Fire Farm for Sierra Magazine’s Winter issue. The whole issue is so inspiring. It’s guest edited by Rosario Dawson, whose politics and heart I have long admired. Every word in her intro essay is gold. You can read it here.

The piece I wrote on Leah for the Treehugger section is still print only at the moment, but it should be online soon. Her work to empower farmers of color, from the farm to her seminal book Farming While Black, has changed the lives of countless people and communities, far beyond the agricultural sphere. I’ll post a link at the Publications page when the article goes online. Meantime, here’s a sneak peak at the gorgeousness of a piece on Leah.
